Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation was the biggest beneficiary. It was founded by Bill Gates, Microsoft founder, and his wife Melinda. They focused on health and education in the world. Bill and Buffett have been close friends since the beginning of the 1990s. Other organizations that received donations were those that were run by Buffett's kids and the Susan Thompson Buffett Foundation named after his late wife. The foundation was focused on reproductive health for women and provided college scholarships. The Giving Pledge was an invitation for other wealthy people to contribute a large percentage of their money to charitable causes, created by Buffett and Gates back in 2010.
